Florida and Houston, Texas residents are on constant alert during hurricane season. Their location in the Atlantic Coast puts them in the path of a storm. The National Hurricane Center (NHC), issues a watch or a warning based on specific breakpoints.
The NHC states, “Coastal areas placed under tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings are identified through the use of ‘breakpoints.’ A tropical cyclone breakpoint is defined as an agreed upon coastal location that can be chosen as one of two specific end points or designated places between which a tropical storm/hurricane watch/warning is in effect.”
Residents of these regions should prepare for storms with an emergency standby generator. The unit will help restore energy seconds after a power outage. Propane gas generators will also keep those requiring electricity for their medical equipment safe no matter the meteorological conditions. For more information visit Personalized Power Systems.
