The Effects of Tropical Storm Arlene

Tropical storm Arlene impacted the Gulf of Mexico last week. It is the first named storm of the season. The National Hurricane Center explains how the storm began to move towards the west at 8 miles per hour. This event jump-started hurricane season.

As The Guardian website states, “Arlene remained just below category one hurricane status, with sustained winds of 65mph and wind gusts higher than that.” Some of the damage caused included vehicles destroyed because of the flooding caused by the heavy rains of this tropical storm.

While there is still time, it is important to prepare for such an event if you live in coastal regions such as Florida and Houston, Texas. Purchasing a quality emergency standby generator should be one of the first steps to take to prepare for a storm. The unit will allow you to maintain power even after a storm.
