Increased Chance Of The U.S Being Hit By A Hurricane

An article written by the Sun-Sentinel, talks about how the United States runs a risk of being hit by a hurricane this year. This is because conditions, which in the past have guided the storms away from southern areas, such as Florida and Texas shores, have weakened.

Todd Kimberlain, hurricane specialist of the National Hurricane Center explains, “Twelve hurricanes emerged last year, yet not one hit the U.S. Seven of them — Danielle, Earl, Igor, Julia, Lisa, Otto and Shary — were guided north into the Atlantic either by a low-pressure system near the East Coast or a high-pressure ridge over the eastern Atlantic. This year, the low-pressure system has weakened and the high-pressure ridge is almost absent.”

The article also discusses the rapid development of storms this year. Normally, the first tropical storm of the season appears the first week of July, this year Tropical Storm Arlene developed on June 28th.

This information should not be taken lightly, so before a storm threatens, we must prepare and protect our homes. Purchasing a quality emergency standby generator is the best way to ride out the storm. This unit will keep the power on even after the electricity goes out.
