Owners of Whole-House Generators Enjoy Benefits After A Hurricane

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),  has explained how every four to six years, a Category 1 hurricane hits the shores of Florida. This being the sixth year since a major hurricane occurred, many people have begun preparing by purchasing quality whole-house generators to keep their homes powered after the storms.

Hurricane Katrina hit the state of Florida almost six years ago, leaving behind millions of residents without power. Many suffered through the ordeal, while others who had prepared effectively to face the storm, barely felt the hurricane aftermath thanks to their home generator.

The Sun-Sentinel published an article, after Hurricane Katrina about the benefits of owning an emergency standby generator. One Florida resident was interviewed, Theodore Lerner, whose $14,000 generator automatically began powering his home seconds after losing power.

According to Mr. Lerner, “ I hardly even realized [the generator] went on.” He explained how “It’s the best thing [he] ever invested in.”  Paul Maresca a Boynton Beach resident explained how he “loved not having to buy ice or fill up coolers.”  He went on to say that now they feel ready to face any storm that might come their way.
